유튜브로 영어공부 - 6

<라이브 아카데미 토들러> 영상을 시청하고 복습을 위해 정리한 게시글입니다.

 

영문장을 바로 보니까 시간 조금만 지나면 바로 까먹는 것 같아서 한글지문을 먼저 배치하고 텍스트박스에 영작 해본 다음에 답이랑 비교해보는 스타일로 바꿔봄. 꽤 괜찮은듯.

[예제]

내년 7월에 이사 갈거에요. 그때 지금 이 곳 계약이 끝나거든요.

사실은 이미 이사 갈 곳을 찾기 시작했어요. 선택지를 3곳으로 좁혔는데요 결정을 내리기 전에 시간을 충분히 가지고 고민을 할 거에요. 가장 좋은 결정을 꼭 하고 싶거든요

 

 

I'm going to move in July next year because that's when my contract on this place expires. Actually, I've already started looking for a new place. I've narrowed my options down to about 3, but I'm really going to take my time before I decide because I want to make sure that I make the best decision.

참고) 영어에서는 <월 - 년> 순으로 말하는게 자연스럽다. (작은쪽에서 큰 쪽으로)

- 미국에서는 <월/일/년> 순서를 주로 사용한다고 함. (November 2. 2021)

- <일/월/년> 을 사용하는 곳도 있음 (유럽 스타일)

- 동네 지명을 얘기할때도 작은 쪽에서 큰 쪽으로 말한다. (Jungu, Seoul, Korea)

[조건절] If + 미래시제/조동사

 

[예제]

1) 제가 이것을 오늘 못끝내면 이번 주 토요일에 출근해야 해요.

2) 오늘 이거를 끝내면, 이번 주 토요일에 출근하지 않아도 돼요.

 

 

1) If I don't(can't) finish this today, I'm going to(might) have to go to work this Saturday.

2) If I (can) finish this today, I'm not going to(won't/might not) have to go to work this Saturday.

(1)

조건절이 달려있고, 앞으로 해야하는 사항을 설명할 때에는(have to 등) 미래시제나 might와 같은 조동사와 함께 사용하는 것이 자연스러운 경우가 많다.

(미래시제: ~해야 한다 / might: 해야할 지도 모른다)

(can't: "내 능력에 의해" 못했을때라는 뉘앙스 / don't: 단순 원인에 따른 결과)

I'm going to~ 를 부정으로 바꿀 때는 I'm not going to 보다 I won't have to~ 를 사용하는 경우가 많다.

I got a chance to <do something> - 그럴 기회를 얻었다. (기회가 생겨서 그렇게 했다)

- I got to see a lot of amazing things during the trip.

 

* 무엇을 할 기회가 많지 않았을 때

* 무엇을 할 기회가 전혀 없었을 때

- I didn't get any chance to do any sightseeing during the business trip.

I got a package delivered yesterday, It was a pair of pants that I had ordered almost a month back. I don't buy clothes very often so I had totally forgotten about it until it arrived yesterday morning.

ago: 현재 시점에서 얼마 전

[예제]

저는 평일에는 보통 빨리 퇴근하고 집에 가서 자고 싶어요. 근데 주말에는 보통 엄청 늦게까지 안자고 있어요. 친구들이랑 늦게까지 밖에서 놀 때도 있는데 집에 있을 때도 그냥 자기에는 아깝더라고요. 그래서 주말에는 일찍 일어나기도 해요. 아픈거나 그런게 아닌 이상 최대한 일찍 일어나려고 해요.

 

 

On weekdays, I usually can't wait to get back home after work and go to bed. But on weekends, I usually stay up really late. Sometimes, I stay out late with friends but even when I'm home, it feels like a waste to just sleep. And that's why I get up early, too on weekends. Unless I'm sick or something, I try to get up as early as I can.

[예제]

며칠 전에 차에 문제가 생겨서 공업소에 가져갔어요. 저희 동네에 유일한 공업소에요. 근데 문을 닫은거예요. 제가 먼저 전화를 해서 확인을 해야 했던거겠죠? 근데 평일 오후였어요! 영업을 안할 수도 있다는 것은 생각지도 못했어요. 근데 알고보니 월요일마다 쉬더라고요.

 

 

I had a problem with my car the other day so I took it to the mechanics, the only one in my neighborhood. But they were closed! I guess I should've called first and checked. But it was a weekday afternoon! It never occurred to me that they might be closed. But it turns out they close every Monday.

[예제]

내가 집에 있을 때는 습관적으로 티비를 틀고 보고 있지 않을 때도 그냥 틀어놔요. 조용한게 싫은거 같아요. 물론 뭔가에 집중해야 되면 조용한걸 더 좋아할 때도 있지만 보통은 주변에 소리가 좀 있는게 더 좋아요

 

 

When I'm home, I have a habit of turning on my television and I just leave it on even when I'm not watching it. I guess I don't like it when it's too quiet. Of course, sometimes, when I need to really focus on something, I prefer it to be quiet. But, normally, I feel more comfortable with some noise around me.

* 영어의 대명사는 보통 해석이 안되는 경우가 많다. 자연스러운 문맥을 위해 들어가는 것 뿐.

They're mine = (그들은) 제거에요

Either - 두가지 옵션 중에서 택 1 할때 사용.

'Which'는 정해진 옵션 사이에서 선택하는 상황일 때 주로 사용.

 

* It doesn't matter / I don't care 은 "주제에 별로 관심이 없다"라는 뉘앙스를 내포하고 있으므로 사용에 유의.
